Sixty-fourth World Health Assembly
The Sixty-fourth World Health Assembly, with more than 2700 delegates, including Health Ministers and senior health officials from 192 WHO Member States, nongovernment organizations, civil society groups and other observers concluded business on Tuesday afternoon.
Dr Walid Ammar - Director General of Health – was elected chairman for Committee A.
The World Health Assembly spent eight days working through a broad agenda developed by the previous Executive Board. Member States reached agreements that expand the capacity of all countries to respond to pandemic influenza and other emergencies, strengthen health systems to improve access to quality care, tackle chronic non-Communicable diseases, and give the world a better chance to reach the health-related MDGs.
