Amulatory Sentinel Surveillance System

Context. The ambulatory sentinel surveillance system was established by the Ministry of Public Health with the Collaboration of the World Health Organization, in order to enhance the epidemiological surveillance within the ambulatory sector. |

Methodology. The sentinel surveillance system includes 56 volunteers of General Practitioners, Pediatricians, and Family Medicine Doctors from 22 cazas. Batroun, Bint-Jbeil, Jezzine and Hermel are not included. |

Forms. Data is collected through two forms: an aggregated weekly form and a case-based form for notifiable diseases.
1) The aggregated form includes data on the number of cases for each of the following health events:
- - Notifiable vaccine preventable diseases (measles, rubella, mumps, pertussis), and potentially food and water born diseases (dysentery, viral hepatitis A).
- - Other common syndromes: acute watery diarrhea (AWD), acute respiratory infection (ARI), injuries and poisoning.
2) The case-based reporting form includes data on:
- - Patient identity: name, gender, age, residence
- - Vaccination status
- - Additional information: date of onset of symptoms, date of diagnosis, hospitalization and laboratory results.
