Press Release on 19/06/2017 Concerning the Diagnosis of Infection with the MERS Coronavirus
The Ministry of Public Health announces the diagnosis of one human case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus on June 16, 2017.
The patient comes from KSA and suffers a few days ago from fever with no severe respiratory symptoms. He received the needed treatment and is now in good health at home where he is under home insulation measures and surveillance from the Ministry of Public Health. The Ministry is also providing surveillance for people who came into contact with the patient or were close to him during his travel and residence in Lebanon.
It is worth noting that this is the second case diagnosed in Lebanon, as the first case was registered in 2014 and the patient was treated then. The preventive measures taken by Health Ministry prevented the transmission of the virus to any other citizen.
