تعلن وزارة الصحة العامة عن قرب وصول لقاح كوفيد 19، وهو لقاح يهدف إلى حماية المقيمين من خطر الإصابة بالفيروس مما يؤدي إلى خفض عدد الوفيات وعدد الذين يحتاجون إلى عناية فائقة، وهو وفق استراتيجية وزارة الصحة العامة لتحقيق المناعة المجتمعية والعودة الآمنة التدريجية للحياة الطبيعية.

يستهدف اللقاح في المراحل الأولى من عملية التلقيح من هم الأكثر عرضة للخطر حسب وظيفتهم، مكان عملهم، أعمارهم وحالتهم الصحية.
