NNA – Deputy Prime Minister Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani visited Jebbit Bsharri accompanied by the Director of his office Michel Aad, Counselors Frederic Eid and Georges Akoury. His first stop was in Al-Arz Medical Center in Qanat where he was greeted by Deputies Sethrida Geagea and Elie Keyrouz, the Lebanese Forces Candidate for the district Joseph Isaac, Head of the Municipality Federation in the District Elie Makhlouf, Head of Qanat Municipality Dr. Antoine Saadeh, members of the Municipality Council and Mayors, President of Cedars Medical Association Rita Garana, the Lebanese Forces coordinators, Heads of centers in Jebbit Bshari, President of Qanat Dispensary Zeina El Alam, member of the Lebanese Dental Association council Joseph El Hayek and a number of Lebanese forces activists , people from the region and nearby villages.

Hasbani then announced “the launch of the pilot phase for the telemedicine project that connects the primary healthcare centers to the University hospitals, while providing a gatekeeper model for the health system and high-quality services for the remote villages.” Hasbani also noted the aids granted by the World Bank and UNICEF in this context.

“ We are introducing today from this place this new initiative for the telemedicine pilot phase through electronic devices. This is the first in its kind in Lebanon and the Middle East. This project enables citizens in the healthcare centers in the remote villages to undergo more than 16 medical examinations, and communicate directly with specialist doctors in University Hospitals in Beirut. In the future, they will be able to communicate with specialist doctors abroad, in the event that their case is incurable in Lebanon”, Hasbani said.

Hasbani then headed to Hadath el Jebbeh, before he moved with Geagea and Keyrouz to St. Daniel Dispensary and Hasroun, where he visited the dispensary and the new building of Mar Mema Hospital in Bsharri.

“We believe in transparency and work hard to improve the performance of institutions and the role of Governmental and private hospitals. Our 2025 health strategy includes the introduction of technology in hospitals and the Universal health Coverage for all the citizens, in particular uninsured people.”
