Jabak Discussed with his Belarusian Counterpart Ways to Develop Cooperation in the Field of Medicines and Medical Equipment

Minister of Public Health Dr. Jamil Jabak received his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Karanik during his visit to Lebanon at the head of a delegation comprising representatives of private and governmental pharmaceutical and medical equipment factories in Belarus.

In a statement, Belarus’ Health Minister noted with satisfaction the relations between his country and Lebanon, noting that 377 Lebanese students graduated from Schools of medicine in Belarus this year and most of them started to practice their profession on Belarus, which helps strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Karanik noted that the cooperation with Lebanon can be achieved, in particular in the field of medicines, and the country is seeking ways to help Lebanon import them. The medicines in Belarus are supplied at competitive prices and are exported to the European Countries.

Jabak welcomed his Belarusian counterpart and the delegation, noting that Belarus is one of the leading countries in the field of export of medicines for the treatment of cancer to European countries. “We are coming up to a new generation of medicines manufactured around the world. We are trying to keep up with this development to improve the pharmaceutical industry in Lebanon and reduce the pharmaceutical bill. “

Minister of Public Health stressed that the importance of the relation with Belarus lies in the fact that a large number of Lebanese students graduated from Belarusian schools of medicine, with a major part working there. This is considered as a major factor in the promotion of bilateral relations and the cooperation in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
