Statement Regarding Laboratory Analysis of Coronavirus Suspected Cases

The Minister of Public Health Dr. Hamad Hasan announces that a joint committee of specialists will inspect the University Hospitals to ensure they are well prepared to carry out the lab tests on the suspected cases of COVID-19. Hasan’s statement came after coordination meetings were held at the Ministry of public Health last Thursday and Friday between representatives of governmental and private hospitals and the syndicate of the medical laboratory owners, with the aim at promoting the efforts exerted to contain the spread of coronavirus.

It has been decided to start performing these tests according to the special protocol that was reached during the said meetings in order to ensure the quality of the test results and the health and safety of the medical team and the citizens.

This is a proactive measure taken in the event that the lab of Rafik Hariri University Hospital becomes unable to perform the increasing number of tests should the number of coronavirus cases continue to grow.

This shall be subsequently amended when needed.
