Ceremony in Support of Children with Cancer at the MoPH with the Participation of the Voice Kids Stars

A ceremony for the support of children with cancer was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Public Health on the International Childhood Cancer Day under the patronage and in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani.

Nora Joumblatt, Head of the Children’s Cancer Center of Lebanon CCCL delivered a statement saying: “It is an honor and pleasure for me to participate in this special ceremony on the occasion of the International Childhood Cancer Day.” “On behalf of the CCCL Board of Trustees, I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to the Ministry of public Health for organizing this activity that contributes in disseminating awareness on cancer and encouraging students to express their creativity,” she added.

Joumblatt noted that many things have changed 15 years now, but our commitment to provide the best treatment to as many children as possible in Lebanon and the region remained the same. “We succeeded in the treatment of more than 1500 children so far, with recovering rates amounting to 80% and sometimes 90%, thanks to our partnership with Saint Jude Hospital in the USA and AUBMC,” she added. “My thanks and appreciations go to the Minister Ghassan Hasbani for his kind invitation.”

In a statement, Minister Hasbani said that the Lebanese State committed itself to provide preventive measures to epidemics and diseases to preserve citizens’ health. “We will make a particular effort to provide medicines, vaccines and other necessary treatments.”

Hasbani presented the services provided by the Ministry that include:
  • Medicines (around USD one million two hundred thousands) to 124 patients.
  • Hospitalization: the ministry’s coverage amounts to 85%
  • Contributions: the Ministry provides an annual financial contribution to support Saint Jude Children Cancer center.
“Young heroes, we bow before your courage. In spite of pain and fatigue, you give us hope, love of life and optimism,” Hasbani addressing the children.

The children were delightfully surprised by the “Voice kids” stars Georges Assi, Joan Jabbour, Jad Ezzedine and Amir Amouri who song a bunch of songs that brought joy to the children with cancer.
